By Car / By Foot

Whether by car or on foot, reaching Irente Biodiversity Reserve is an adventure waiting to unfold. From Mombo, ascend the mountain pass to Lushoto, covering 40 kilometers in approximately one hour. Then, follow a small gravel road for 5 kilometers from Lushoto town, adorned with our vibrant Tinga Tinga signs guiding you to ‘IRENTE FARM LODGE’.

Nestled just 1.7 kilometers before the awe-inspiring Irente View Point, our tranquil haven awaits your arrival, promising an unforgettable experience amidst nature’s splendour.

By Bus

For travellers opting for bus transportation, departures to and from Lushoto typically commence in the morning. Buses bound for Tanga operate throughout the day, with services starting as early as 06:00 am and concluding at 16:00 pm. For those journeying to Moshi, Arusha, and Dar es Salaam, direct buses embark early in the morning.

Alternatively, travellers can opt for minibuses headed to Mombo junction at the mountain’s base, facilitating connections to various destinations via buses such as Dar Express, BM Coach, Kilimanjaro Express among many others. Mombo serves as a prominent stopover, offering several dining options and a bustling fresh food market.

For expeditions into the mountains, including Mtae, Mlalo, and Mlola, buses depart from Lushoto bus station around 13:30 pm. Meanwhile, buses to Bumbuli and Mgwashi depart from Soni junction in the afternoon, situated approximately 15 kilometers from Lushoto.

Upon arrival in Lushoto, taxis to Irente Farm Lodge are readily available and typically cost around Tsh 30,000, while motorbike transportation (Bodaboda) can be arranged for approximately Tsh 3,000, providing convenient access to your destination.
